General assembly of the Swiss watch-makers has made the epoch-making decision on rules toughening of Swiss Made marking. This measure is provoked not by domination of the false Swiss watches. It make no sense to struggle with clones, as it means that “native” watches possess really the cult status. Watch-makers struggle with other absolutely trouble.
Recently many Swiss manufacturers - probably, for the sake of the costs reduction – make more and more details in the third world. It reduces the quality of watches and undermines prestige of the branch. It is quite usual today, though unpleasant, to buy Swiss Made with the Chinese details, assembled in Taiwan.
New regulations of the Decree on Swiss Made marking put a serious task before some manufacturers. Now to be the Swiss Made, watches should contain not less than 80 % of Swiss made details. Besides 80 % of all technological operations should be also carried out in Switzerland. Only in this case prestigious marking can appear on the case of the device.
The innovation first of all will affect small average firms, especially those without own manufactories. Experts predict that many similar brands will disappear in the nearest years.
