The stones which have slept millions years in the depths of the Earth pass through dozens attentive hands. These are hands of 70 masters who work in Van Cleef and Arpels studio nearby to the Parisian boutique. Besides experts who usually are included at the staff of jewelry workshop, there is also the master who makes models of the future products. These original three-dimensional sketches are the following step after drawings on a paper. Van Cleef & Arpels is the only unique company on the Place Vendome which makes such models of a tin alloy and crystal. The model gives good idea about the future form of the jewelry and allows to remove last technical and aesthetic defects of the project. When the model is authorized by the management, jewelers start to make the basis of the adornment from gold or platinum. Then masters of the workshop prepare gems for fixing - everything, except for brilliants which need special device because of their hardness.
