The most expensive island of The World is sold for 263 million dollars


Island Markovo which belongs to an artificial archipelago The World, is sold for 263 million dollars, informs site Arabian Business referring to the developer of the project - company Nakheel.
Name of the buyer, who has paid the record price for the area in 247 thousand square meters, is not informed yet. Company Nakheel also has not specified, the causes of so high price on Markovo - earlier The World has been sold from 15 up to 50 million for an island.

Before purchase of Markovo, the largest transactions within the framework of the project The World were sales of “Shanghai” and “Ireland”. Both purchases were made by “a national feature”. “Shanghai” was got for 28 million dollars by the Chinese businessman Bin Hu. Later he has bought two more of six islands.

The World consists of three hundred islands, the area from 23,2 to 83,6 thousand square meters: their outlines from height of the bird’s flight remind geographical map of the world. As of the end of 2007 more than 40 percent of The World has already been sold.
