Jewelry of the Russian Crown will be sold up at Christie’s


Products of the jeweller art to the sum of 40 million US dollars will be put up for sale at Christie’s on November, 15 in the International Jeweller Art Center in Geneva. For the first time there will be displayed the special section of the Russian jewelry including works of the 18 centuries from the collection of the Russian Crown which have been sold by the Soviet government.

Unique ear-rings from amethyst and brilliants of the XVIII century arouse special interest. Each ear-ring consist of three pear-shaped amethystine “drops”, falling down from diamond “leaves”, crowned with the octahedral amethyst framed by brilliants in a silver and gold frame. Created nearly 1760, length - 5.4 centimeters.

One more surprising lot is a brooch made as an eagle from jewels and brilliants (XVIII century). The length - 7.6 centimeters, created nearly1750.

One more awaited lot is one of the biggest in the world natural pearls in the form of a drop, weight 222,5 carat, originates from the historical necklace created by Chaumet.

Representatives of the Auction House Christie’s have noted, popularity of ancient ornaments revives. And an interest to ancient Russian jewelry gets universal character.
