The most expensive mansion of the Great Britain


After restoration Witanhurst mansion, used for shootings of BBC show “Fame Academy”, will be the most expensive mansion in the Great Britain.
Its cost will exceed half-billion dollars (150 million pounds sterling). Now the most expensive British private residence is Updown Court in Surrey, it costs twice less (75 million pounds sterling).
Witanhurst is the second-largest after the Buckingham Palace private residence in London suburbs. The house has been bought by the developer Marcus Cooper for 65 million dollars (32 million pounds sterling) whose company, The Cooper Group, intends to repair the private residence.
The residence has been constructed in 1913-1920 by George Hubbard for “soap” magnate Sir Arthur Crosfield. It has 65 rooms, including 25 bedrooms and 12 bathrooms, a sports hall, library and a sauna. Ballroom in Witanhurst takes about 39 826 square feet, the height of a ceiling is six meters.
According to the representative of the PropertyVision which chooses houses for rich clients, Russian or Arabs will be interested in this mansion first of all.
